Construction Accountant Administrator

The construction accounting administrator supports the project accounting teams and coordinates with operations, finance, and legal on all aspects of a development project. This role also ensures that all team members and vendors are following company policies and procedures, meeting deadlines and communicating with management.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the COO, CFO and project accounting teams

  • Prepare and review AIA contracts

  • Monitor and report on cash positions

  • Point of contact for vendor inquiries

  • Review and verify contractor insurance requirements and certificates

  • Responsible for the project accounting team and tax professionals’ deadlines

  • Accountable to the chief officers to provide project summary updates to include CIP, percentage of completion, budget analysis, etc each month

  • Track and verify vendor compliance to contracts, change orders, insurance, SOV, NTO, lien releases, files, etc.

  • Work with project team to mitigate financial risk and assist in the accurate completion of project predevelopment, development, and stabilization budgets

  • Ensure timely management of draw reports, financial reports, tax returns, OA compliance and other deadlines

  • Develop and maintain positive professional relationships both internally & externally

  • Assist in the financial closing process

  • Provide suggestions for improving efficiencies of work activities to boost productivity and accuracy of deliverables

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

  • BA/BS degree in accounting or related field

  • 5 years accounting experience required

  • Construction project management experience required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work with all personality types

  • Tax experience plus

  • Opportunity zone experience preferred

  • Ability to handle many tasks and projects concurrently
